Goal Setting 101

Goal Setting 101: 3 Surefire Ways to Achieve Your Goals

Do you set goals with an end in mind?
Or do you make arbitrary statements like, “I want to make an extra 25, 50, or 100,000 this year.”
Do you know exactly what you would do if you reached that goal? Are you actively taking steps to reach those goals?
Let’s say you are dreaming of living in a mansion. Is that a desire or goal?
Or maybe you want some pizza. Is that a desire or a goal?

These are just desires. There is no attachment to these or any action behind them.
A pizza will not just magically appear without you doing something. You have to go to an app. Place an order. Pay for it. Submit your order, then wait for it to arrive . You have to do all of that to make the pizza end up on your porch, right?
Just like saying you want to live in a mansion. How are you going to live in a mansion? Do you know how much will it cost you? Are you planning to rent, or do you want to buy? How much will all of the bills cost you with all of the luxury things that come with it?

.

You need to think about all of these things when you are goal-setting ! Otherwise, they will end up in your pile of arbitrary desires that you say because they sound really great.

3 Way to Achieve Your Goals

1. Your Goal must be Specific.

Be extremely specific.

Know exactly what you want.

Know when you want it.

Know how you want it.

Know why you want it.

How can we achieve this?

Picture this… You are working towards achieving your goal because you know every single step and every single action it will take to make it happen. How? Because you are extremely specific as to how you can accomplish this goal. You know what will help you or hinder your success. Once you add SPECIFICITY to your goal it has a much better chance of coming true.

After that, you can check in with yourself daily, weekly, monthly to see if you are actually making progress towards that goal. Keeping yourself accountable is extremely important.
“It is important to be the master of your fate when goal-setting.”

I am sure you’re familiar with the goals that sound something like, “I just want to be happy,” or “I just want to be me.” These are examples of arbitrary goals.
Have you ever thought in depth about what’s going to actually make you happy? Do you even know who you really are? Would you still want to be you if it meant losing those closest to you and alienating yourself from family and friendships to make that happen?

I want you to be you. I want you to become the best version of yourself . Do you think you are ready to take those steps to become that person? Do you think those around you are willing to stand beside you while you achieve that? Most importantly, are you ready yourself?

For me , my goal is to make more money. I am trying to match my corporate income with my side hustle income within the next 365 days. So every single morning I ask this question to my husband and myself, “How are we going to make money today?”

To make it more specific, I am saying that I want to be a social media mogul and run at least 2 successful blogs. I want one of them to be about starting a business with confidence and the second to be about transitioning out of the military. I want to use the income from my social media ventures and my blogs to fuel my departure from my corporate 9 – 5 and be able to match or exceed my income within one year. that is my clear and concrete goal!

2. Your Goal Must Have a Deadline

You have to set an end date.
Goals don’t finish themselves. The goal can become unclear and sometimes impossible to accomplish if you don’t set an end date.

Take my first example. Do you see how different each one becomes when you add specificity, “I want a pizza” or “I want a pizza today” or “I want a pizza tonight”?

See how I’ve added a timeline in there? If I just say “Hmm, I want pizza,” maybe my husband will think I want a pizza this weekend or next week. But if I say, “I want pizza tonight” then he knows I’m not cooking and we’re ordering pizza. Do you see how specific I was? Do you see how I put a time so it was clear when I wanted it?

As I just I mentioned before, I want to match or exceed my corporate income in 365 days and focus on my side hustles.
That’s it! There’s my goal and I gave it a year deadline.

3. Your Goal must come from a Place of Abundance.

The final way to set achievable goals is to come from a Place of Abundance.

Those of you who aren’t familiar with the Lack vs.      Abundance Mindset, let me just give you a quick tutorial.

People who think abundantly believe that there’s plenty of everything in the world. Everyone has everything they need and if they don’t they just need to tap into it to get it.

People who have a lack mentality or lack mindset believe that they are somehow limited by what’s available. They are limited in their ventures and they have limited access to achieving those ventures and those goals. They are plainly waiting for someone to magically bestow upon them their desires and their dreams.

When you speak from a place of lack it will sound      like:

“I wish I would have”

“I could have”

“I should have”

“I would have”

“I wish I had”

All of those are coming from a place of not having and wanting. They are coming from a place of lack. Not from a place of abundance. Once you think from an abundance mindset, I assure you it’ll change your life!!

Do you want to make more money because you want to connect with your loved ones more and the 9 – 5 isn’t working out for you?

Do you want to be your own boss so you can empower yourself and empower your children to know that they don’t always have to be beholden to or work for someone else?

Do you want to live half the year in another country, but you can’t do that with your traditional 9 – 5?

All these thoughts are manifestations. These are all possible. You just need to tap into them and figure out how you can achieve them. But it starts with you thinking abundantly and knowing that all of this is possible for you.

I know that there are over a trillion ways to make $1,000,000. You just      need to tap into one     , master it, and then you can achieve that goal.

Conclusion

Specificity, deadlines, and abundance will drive you to your goal. You and only you will be the fuel that helps you achieve it. You have to want it. You have to believe it. You have to work your ass off to get it.

I want you to reach your exponential greatness by investing in yourself every single day and have phenomenal results by the end of the year. I believe in you!
