4 Foolproof Ways to Stay Motivated

Despite popular belief, MOTIVATION IS NOT the key to success.

I would even venture to say it’s not even a main ingredient if you have an atomic habit, but I will say that due to human nature, it is necessary to achieve your goals. When you run up against tough times in life, it helps to get you through.

Let’s discuss staying motivated and reaching your business goals.

Let’s talk about motivation. I’m going to hit four quick points to help you stay motivated throughout the tough times of your business.

1. STOP talking and START doing.

The first one is to stop talking and start doing. I’ve said the expression, “Move in silence,” a few times, and it’s the same thing. Stop talking about what you’re going to do, and just do it. Everyone doesn’t need to know what’s going on with you.

You don’t have to be updating people. Updating people outside of your organization or insignificant to you making decisions is wasting your time. You do not have to explain yourself.

Take the time to write a good FAQ on your website. Make sure you have booklets, pamphlets, infographics, or checklists to explain your purpose. Make sure the ‘About section’ of your social media explains what’s going on with you.

Give the background, give the necessary information. You shouldn’t have to do much talking. Focus on the doing. The doing is what’s going to make your business successful. The doing is what’s going to keep you motivated, because it’s like going for a ride.

Nobody wants to get up in the early morning, get dressed, go out into the brisk weather, and go for a run. However, when you start doing it, partway through it, you begin to feel good about it. The same thing comes with motivation; start doing, stop talking.

2. Get your HEART RATE up.

The second is when you’re starting to feel down and unmotivated, get your heart rate up. It is so important.

Go for a walk. Go for a swim. Hit the gym. Do some squats. Do some pushups. Have sex. Whatever it is you need to do to get your heart rate pumping will help increase your motivation.

It’s related to endorphins. I speak from experience, and twenty-three years in the military.

Get moving, and it’ll get you going. It gets your blood pumping. It gets your mind open, and your synapses start firing. You can get reinvigorated doing what you want to be doing.

3. Know your INSPIRATION.

The third way is to know your inspiration. It’s a common misnomer that people are afraid of hard work, which is a bold-faced lie.

It’s that Marianne Williamson quote again; ‘it’s our light, not our darkness that most frightens us,’ and it’s so true. It’s the things that we are capable of doing, the things that we know are possible that are terrifying us, not what we can’t do.

Some people work two, three, maybe four jobs, working ten, twelve hours a day, plus overtime. They’re not afraid of hard work, but they’re so scared to start their business. Fear is crippling. Set your inspiration.

What do you want out of life? Are you doing it for your kids, for your family, for yourself, so you don’t die early, stressed out, and unhappy? So you can have vacations every year? So you can live part of the year out of the country, and travel, and show your family, your children other cultures, and learn other languages?

You have to have inspiration. If you don’t have something inspiring you to succeed and stay motivated through those tough times, you won’t.

4. Know your WHY.

The fourth way to stay motivated is to know your why. When you’re driven by why, it will be the reason you’re doing it, the thing that’s driving you.

Every time you make a decision in your business, you check back in, and you say, “Is this part of my why?” This will keep you going. Then when you move outside of your why, it should stop you in your tracks, and then you’re not wasting your time.

As I’m trying to get a few of my businesses up and running while I exit from my corporate job to my side hustles within this next year, I have to be thinking about strategy and income, and I have to be doing things that are going to bring those in.

I don’t have three years to build a business. I’m trying to do those things in one year. I need to bring in that income. When I find myself wandering off and doing things that aren’t going to bring me income and set the foundation for my various business ideas, I stop dead in my tracks and say, “Teddy, get yourself together. That’s not part of the goal,” and I get back on track.

Know your why, and you will stay motivated.

You are your best-kept secret.

Let me say that again. You are your best kept secret.

You are beautiful, and you are magic.

There is no one better being you than you.

So be you.

Do the damn thing.

Reach your exponential greatness. Invest in yourself just one percent a day and have phenomenal results at the end of the year. Believe you can, and you will.
